In order to immigrate to Canada from South Africa using the Express Entry system, you must first file an online Express Entry profile, which includes information about you and your family, your education, work experience, English or French language skills and other details.

The major requirements for the Start-up Visa Program include having a business that qualifies, satisfying the English or French language criteria, receiving a letter of support from an approved organization, and possessing adequate financial resources for immigration to Canada.

Spouse / Common-Law Sponsorship

A South African who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident, at least 18 years of age, has adequate financial resources and meets all of the criteria can apply to sponsor his or her spouse or common-law partner for Canadian permanent residency.

There are some situations in which a Canadian citizen or permanent resident will sponsor his or her spouse or common-law partner for permanent residency in Canada, such as if he or she marries, or becomes a common-law partner with, a foreign national.

Canada’s government believes in keeping families together, so it also allows eligible Canadian citizens or permanent residents to sponsor their dependent unmarried children who are under 22 years of age for permanent residency in Canada, as well as parents and grandparents, orphaned brothers and sisters, and orphaned nephews and nieces.

Provincial Nominee Programs

The Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) offers 11 different opportunities for you to immigrate to Canada from South Africa.

This is because 11 of the 13 Canadian provinces and territories have developed their own PNP in coordination with Canada’s national immigration agency. These 11 provinces and territories created their PNPs in order to attract foreign workers who have the occupations and skills that they need in their location.

Regardless of the different PNP requirements, the procedure basically involves applying to one or more PNP and if you receive a nomination, then you can apply for Canadian permanent residency with Canada’s federal immigration agency. If you are approved for immigration to Canada through a PNP, you will live and work in the Canadian province or territory that nominated you.

QUEBEC Skilled Worker Program

Points can be received for training, French or English language skills, characteristics of one’s spouse or partner, the age of the applicant, receiving a qualifying offer of employment in Quebec, previous stay in Quebec, and having adequate financial resources to support oneself and family.

You must first file an Expression of Interest (EOI) using the Arrima online system and after you receive a Certificat de sélection du Québec (CSQ), you will be able to apply for Canadian permanent residency with Canada’s federal immigration agency.
