Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto have been included in the list of top 10 most livable cities in the world for 2022 by the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU).

The EIU assessed 173 cities worldwide using different factors, such as Stability, Healthcare, Culture and Environment, Education, and Infrastructure.

A scale was used in which zero was the lowest possible score and 100 was the highest possible score that a city could receive for each factor as well as overall.

Calgary tied for third place with Zurich (Switzerland), receiving 95.0 for Stability, 100 for Healthcare, 90.0 for Culture and Environment, 100 for Education, and 100 for Infrastructure, giving Calgary 96.3 for its overall score.

Vancouver came in fifth place with an overall score of 96.1, based on Stability (90.0), Healthcare (100), Culture and Environment (100), Education (100), and Infrastructure (92.9).

Toronto, the largest city in Canada, ranked #8 in the world for livability after scoring 95.0 for Stability, 100 for Healthcare, 95.4 for Culture and Environment, 100 for Education, 89.3 for Infrastructure, and 95.4 overall.

The world’s #1 most livable city in the world for 2022 was Vienna (Austria) with an overall score of 99.1; followed by #2 Copenhagen (Denmark) with 98.0; Zurich (Switzerland) and Calgary (Canada) both tied for #3 with 96.3; Vancouver (Canada) was #5 with 96.1; Geneva (Switzerland) was #6 with 95.9; Frankfurt (Germany) was #7 with 95.7; Toronto (Canada) was #8 with 95.4; Amsterdam (Netherlands) was #9 with 95.3; with Osaka (Japan) and Melbourne (Australia) tied for 10th place with a score of 95.1 overall.

Something that Calgary, Vancouver and Toronto share in common, aside from being among the top 10 best places to live in the world, is all three Canadian cities received perfect scores of 100 for Healthcare and for Education.
